Every business and organization has a cost associated with it. Besides monetary factors, we want to look at the sustainable aspect. Setting up requires furniture and fixings, business operations needs tools and human resources and so on and so forth. Today we are going to look at one business’ unique way of using up-cycling to offset the cost of sustainability and also drive the idea as a direction for its business with our Featured Service: Mechanics Groomer.
Mechanics Groomer is a gentlemen’s barber shop that is self described as “modern yet traditional”. Providing all the services you’d expect from a barber like hair cuts, hot towel shaving, facial scrub, manicures, head & face massage, masks and many more. It’s services are catered more to males, but you’ll find a regular female clientele as well. Run by the ever-so-friendly Cassius and Linda, they are extremely attentive to your needs and will ensure that you are getting the best for your hair. This writer has personally visited the place, and was spoiled for choices with insightful recommendations, not often showed in most salons.
As the name “Mechanics” implies, the interior decorations are scattered with up-cycled materials you’d often see at the vehicle workshop. The reason for this is to create a comforting yet “masculine” environment. The cement floors have various old tools like chains, pliers, wrenches and screwdrivers embedded into it. The huge mirrors are framed with bicycle chains, and surrounding it, various makeshift holders for the grooming tools. Even the lamps lighting the place are made out of bicycle wheels, and over the counter a distinct looking clock made out of large gears. A strong up-cycling effort that has embedded itself to the brand of the barbershop.
I truly enjoyed my haircut, and from the looks of the facebook album, so does many. Customers often quote it the service as as friendly, professional, and comes out of it feeling transformed or rejuvenated. And most also noted the unique interior design. Next time if you need a haircut, try it out yourself!
